Never skip breakfast
According to researches, eating breakfast can help in controlling a person’s weight. Some individuals skip breakfast thinking they can lose their excess pounds this way. Actually, skipping meals does not let you lose weight and is not healthy at all, since it can deprive you of the essential nutrients you need. Moreover, it makes you feel hungry, encouraging you to eat more during the day.
Eat meals regularly
While some individuals believe that skipping meals can let them lose excess weight, studies prove that eating meals regularly can actually burn calories at a higher rate. Besides, it reduces a person’s cravings of foods high in sugar and fat.
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
There are 3 essential ingredients for successful weight loss. Fruits and vegetable are rich in fibre, but low in fats and calories. They are also rich in minerals and vitamins.
Be more active
According to studies, being active is the key to losing pounds and keeping them off. Exercise offers lots of health benefits, and burns extra calories that won’t come off with diet alone. Choose the exercise that you can enjoy and fit it into your schedule.
Thirst is often mistaken for hunger. Instead of consuming more calories, people may just need to drink water. Make sure to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water (total of 1.2 litres) a day or even more, on a hot day or when you are very active.
Eat foods fibre-rich foods
Foods that contain a lot of fiber allow you to feel full, making them perfect for those who want to lose weight. They are found in fruits, vegetables, oats, brown rice, pasta, wholegrain bread, peas, beans and lentils.
Read food labels before buying
It is important to read the labels on the products so you will know if they are healthy or not. Check out the amount of fat, sugars, salt and calories, and use this data to see if a certain food product would be able to meet the daily calorie intake on your weight loss plan.
Eat on a smaller plate
Research shows that people who eat on a smaller plate have a tendency to eat less, while being contented. Using smaller bowls and plates helps you get accustomed to eating smaller portions of food without becoming hungry. It usually takes around 20 minutes for the stomach to send a signal to the brain that it is already full. So, it helps to eat slowly to digest the food completely.
Reduce the alcohol intake
A regular glass of wine can have the same amount of calories as a chocolate bar, just like a pint of lager can have the same amount of calories as a pack of crisps. In the long run, drinking too much alcohol can result to gaining excess pounds.
