Relora – For Natural Stress Relief

vitamin-agent

Relora is a natural proprietary blend of an extract of Magnolia officinalis and an extract from Phellodendron amurense. Relora was developed as an ingredient for dietary supplements and functional foods that could be used in stress management and for stress-related appetite control. This patented blend of plant extracts is the result of screening more than fifty plant fractions from traditional plant medicines used around the world.

Magnolia Officinalis (Hou Po) has been used in Chinese herbal medicine for at least 2,000 years. The aromatic, pungent and warming bark is used in the treatment of various disorders of the digestive system, shortness of breath and many other ailments.

Phellodendron amurense is commonly used in Chinese herbalism, where it is considered to be one of the 50 fundamental herbs.

Relora is a natural stress management ingredient that helps control stress-related eating and has the added value of being non-sedative. This means that it can relax you without making you feel drowsy or tired. In the central nervous system the plant extracts in Relora bind to several important targets associated with stress. It does not bind to the receptors that would cause sedation, yet has the relaxing properties that have been shown in both animal and human studies.

In addition, it stabilises hormone levels associated with stress-induced weight gain and eating behavior. Stress has been shown to play a significant role in a variety of conditions. A large percentage of overweight adults have excessive abdominal fat due to stress-related over-eating. I’m sure you’ve seen or heard of someone going on a food (usually chocolate) binge because of depression!

Relora can maintain healthy cortisol levels in stressed individuals and act as an aid in controlling weight and stress-related eating. What is cortisol?

Cortisol is a hormone released during moment of stress. It assists us in defending against threats or perceived threats. Whilst this may have been useful in ancient times, in a modern world we’re not generally presented with life threatening situations each day. It seems that the mechanism which causes secretions of cortisol has not yet realised that we no longer live in a ‘kill or be killed’ environment so it continues to produce cortisol whenever we are in stressful situations such as noisy environments and overpopulated areas.

If we can control the release of cortisol we can keep our stress levels lower and this is what Relora does.
