Cultural Literacy – Making/Baking Bread in Iraq

Wile serving he United States Embassy as Medical Adviser, my role was formerly designated as Iraqi Task Force (IQATF). During this duty some camaraderie and trust, in a very altruistically uncertain atmosphere, what a great challenge and extremely rewarding.

Breaking bread and sharing chi was a great ice breaker when inquiring about local public health.  to engage Iraqis in bread making created as good camaraderie as a foreign diplomatic agent could expect.   Many additional Iraqi’s accepted the purpose and participation for gathering on-the-ground health information which was the end point of my mission.

Please regard the majority of Iraqi’s as kind, willing and enthusiastic members of a fledgling community.  Politics aside, human values often rule the interaction when given the opportunity to share common ground and an initiation is heartfelt and genuine.  Please inquire about the many methods for making solid and sustainable in-roads within communities under political instability.
