Ayurvedic Treatment Vs Homeopathy
Ayurveda is widely regarded as the oldest form of healthcare originated in India thousands of years ago. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit term ‘ayu’ means life and ‘veda’ means knowledge. Ayurveda means knowledge or science of life. Homeopathy is an alternative medicine created by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in the late eighteenth century. ‘Homeo’ is a greek word meaning similars and ‘pathos’ means the suffering or disease.
The philosophy of Ayurveda believes that the health of a human body depends on the balance on the three key components, wind, bile and phlegm. Any imbalance in these three constituents causes diseases whereas the treatment method in Homeopathy follows the “laws of similars” which means that to rid of a disease one has to treat the person with drugs that produce the same symptoms as the disease.Homeopathy believes in the “vitalist” philosophy. As per this belief, various external and internal causes disturb the “vital force” which negatively affects the health of a person physically and psychologically.Ayurvedic treatment uses vegetable drugs for internal consumption and external use. Whereas Homeopathic remedies use various plant, animal, synthetic materials, and mineral substances. The medicines are prepared by diluting the substance in alcohol or distilled water.
Ayurvedic medicine complements the scientific Allopathic medicines, Homeopathy is against it. Ayurveda believes in preventing disease while homeopathy is based on curing a disease. Ayurveda believes that one can remain free of any disease by keeping the toxins out of his body. It also employs both oral medicines made from herbs and spices and surgical procedures to flush the toxins out of the body; thereby curing diseases and various ailments. In Homeopathy, diseases are cured by introducing symptoms similar to those of the disease in a much diluted form and are believed that this will help the life force in neutralizing the disease and curing the patient. Although Ayurveda and Homeopathy believes in the importance of a positive mind, they differ vastly in their forms of treatment.
Both the alternative medicines have been proved to be beneficial to human beings. It is the experiences of the patients and the situation that states or differentiates the better from the best. One has to understand that both have importance and value in their own respective fields. One has to choose only that form of treatment on which they trust or believe. It would be very unfair to say any one specific treatment is the best.
