If you’re searching for natural tips on how to avoid gout with home remedies, then you’ve landed at the right place. As a gout sufferer, I know the 3 natural remedies I’m going to give you here do work. They worked for me, as they have for many gout sufferers.
Avoiding gout is far better than trying to eliminate gout once you’ve got gout isn’t it? But very few people who regularly suffer from gout actually do that. They seem to accept their fate and do their best to eliminate their symptoms when they suffer another attack.
But this is wrong. Not just because it doesn’t have to be that way; but because constantly recurring gout attacks often lead to permanent joint damage and other health issues such as painful kidney stones. So your key objective should be to do all that you can to avoid gout in the first place.
In order to do this it helps a lot if you fully understand what actually causes your gout: Your gout symptoms are the result of crystals forming in your joints. These form when you have high uric acid levels in your blood. Uric acid is produced naturally during your body’s metabolization process.
During this process, chemical compounds in your body (called ‘purines’) eventually breakdown and uric acid is formed as a byproduct. But purines also exist in the food you eat. So you can see that the more purines there are in your system, the more uric acid is produced.
Now, your kidneys normally process and excrete excess uric acid from your body. But if you body is producing too much acid for your kidneys to deal with, or, your kidneys aren’t working to their full effect, then you end up with high uric acid, leading to crystals forming in your joints, causing gout.
So, one of the key issues on how to avoid gout is to reduce your high uric acid levels and maintain them at healthy levels. You don’t need drug-based medications, with their horrible side effects, to do this; you can use natural home remedies to avoid gout.
Here are 3 gout home remedies that I have successfully used to avoid gout attacks:-
(1) Drink lots and lots of water. Water helps to keep you hydrated which, in turn, helps to prevent uric acid crystals forming. By drinking at least 3 litres of water on a daily basis you will help your kidneys flush excess uric acid out of my body.
(2) During a gout attack, eat 30 or 40 cherries every 4 hours or so. Cherries have natural anti-inflammatory properties, plus, they can also help lower uric acid levels in your body. After an attack continue eating about 30 cherries daily for maintenance.
(3) Change to a healthier gout diet. A healthy gout diet is one that is low in purines. This means that you need to avoid high-purine foods like; fatty red meat, organ meat, game, poultry, seafood, legumes, yeast, etc. But don’t crash diet as this can actually trigger gout. Rather, move over to your gout diet in a more measured way.
I know that these 3 home remedies for gout work, because they worked for me. But, there were also other things that I needed to address in order to be completely sure that I could continue to avoid gout attacks and their associated health problems.
