The health-food movement used to be based on carrots, celery, wheatgrass, and some brown paper sacks filled with bulghur wheat.
Not anymore. Many companies have sprung up all over the internet, making available to everyone some of the greatest, most potent and healing “superfoods” from all corners of the globe–raw organic superfoods–foods grown with sustainable agricultural methods, and food presented in their raw, natural state, without heating above 118 degrees Fahrenheit–preserving vital nutrition, vitamins, and enzymes.
These include the raw cacao bean–also called the “raw chocolate nut”–the substance from which all chocolate is made.
“Cacao” is the original name for chocolate, which grows on a tree in the Amazon jungle. In the modern commercial chocolate industry, however, many of the vital medicinal properties of this amazing food are lost through high heat, stripping away of its high-quality oils, pressing, chemical extraction, and tainting with lead and cadmium. Raw organic cacao, however, is one of the most medicinal, healing, nutritious foods on the planet.
Goji berries are also hot products on the internet superfood scene these days. Considered one of the top foods/herbs in the 5000 year old system of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the goji berry is a complete protein (very rare for a fruit), and is one of the only foods ever discovered to stimulate the pituitary gland to produce more human growth hormone (HGH), helping to keep people young, even as they age.
If you add one more ingredient to the above mentioned items–hemp seeds–you get the basics for one of the tastiest (and healthiest!) smoothies you can make. Hemp seeds–the seed of the non-psychoactive hemp plant–are considered one of the world’s top foods for health and healing by Udo Erasmus, the author of Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill.
Hemp seeds are a complete protein, and astoundingly high in a very assimilable protein (called “edestin”) for the human body. This protein is readily absorbed and is highly usable. These seeds also contain the ideal ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fats–a perfect 2 to 1 ratio.
If you take some cacao beans, some goji berries, hemp seeds, water, agave nectar, a little salt, and you blend it all together, you can have one of the best-tasting and most nutritious smoothies ever!
Does it take some money to invest in all these high-quality Superfoods? Absolutely. But think about this as an investment in your health and longevity–as tools in the backpack of the modern-day superhero.
As raw-foodist and superhero David Wolfe puts it: “It’s not about having a yacht. In fact, the American dream as we knew it is over. Now, it’s about totally getting into alignment with who we are and where we’re going as a species. It’s all about a state of feeling—feeling amazing and awesome all the time.”
If super health and super longevity are your goals, then you owe it to yourself to check out the many available superfood and super herb products available to you at your local health food store, or on the internet.
Yes, it costs money–more than eating fast food. But I have found that when you make “feeling amazing” and “feeling the best ever” your number one priority, you always have money left over for the other important things in your life.
The better you feel (and it is true that you are what you eat!), the more energy and enthusiasm you have for your life, and for making even more money in the future.
Making the commitment to invest first in your health and your family’s health will pay so many dividends in terms of your health, your mood and attitude, your feelings of optimism and connection to those around you–you will be simply amazed.
