Foods That Pick You Up When You’re Feeling Sluggish

If you feel sluggish at the end of the day, you’re certainly not alone. As a society, we tend to gravitate towards sugar and caffeine when a pick-me-up is needed. While sugar-laden snacks and caffeine packed drinks may provide momentary energy, these quick fixes won’t last for long. Instead of looking towards junk food as a way to feel more energized, consider indulging in some nutrient rich meals.

Time and time again, studies have shown that eating small meals (that are full of healthy nutrients) throughout the day can really impact energy levels. Therefore, it’s important that you know all about those foods that can pick you up when you’re feeling down, and try to pack as many of these foods into your current diet as possible.

· Water: technically, water isn’t a food, but it is one thing that most people don’t get enough of. When you are feeling tired, drinking a glass of water will pick you up right away. Why? Essentially, water creates energy inside of your body. When your body is lacking water, it won’t function properly. In turn, this causes a lack of energy.

· Bananas: bananas are high in natural sugar and potassium – two things that are great for tired bodies. Potassium acts as a type of electrolyte for your body, which helps to improve energy levels. Interestingly, bananas contain the same basic ingredients that sports drinks do – just think of a banana as a natural sports drink.

· Almonds: almonds are loaded with monounsaturated fats (those are the “good” fats), and these fats help to create perk up your brain. When you eat foods that contain monounsaturated fats, you are consuming helpful brain food.

· Protein: When you’re feeling particularly low on energy, try consuming some protein. Whether you open a can of tuna or eat a steak is up to you, but either way you’ll find that protein provides an instant jolt of energy.

Try to start your day with a healthy breakfast followed by two or three small meals throughout the day. Don’t deny yourself healthy snacks, and don’t make any foods “off limits.” By abiding by these weight loss tips, you will find that obtaining a trim body is easy to do.

The worst part about feeling sluggish is that a lack of energy often results in a skipped workout. If you combine the foods mentioned above with certain weight loss motivation tips, then you have a far better chance of making it to the gym at the end of the day.

Weight loss motivation strategies such as providing yourself with a small reward, getting a new haircut or look, or using a custom magnet to remind yourself of the way that you want to look will all help you achieve your weight loss goals. Weight loss is really all about combining the right diet, exercise routine, and motivational tips. When all of these things are put together, the outcome can only be a heaping helping of success.
