Natural Remedies for Shoulder Pain

vitamin-agent

There are a few natural remedies for shoulder pain you can do from the comfort of your own home, but before we get into the “natural remedies for…” let me just take a brief moment to explain why you may have picked up this problem so it can be avoided in future cases down the road.

Shoulder pain most often comes from overuse of muscle tendons either by gardening, playing tennis…well, you get the picture. I picked up my shoulder injury by carrying the world on it for too long. I actually picked up my injury from excessive over use. I am a plasterer by trade (used to be) and the constant movement and rotation of my arm in a circular motion weakened the tendons over time.

The first thing I had to do was go see a doctor and in my case this was a complete waste of time. I mean, what in god’s name is a doctor going to do for my shoulder I ask you…nothing but prescribe some pain killers, and I bloody hate prescription drugs. This is why I set out to get the injury fixed without the need for pill popping and you can too. Natural remedies for shoulder pain was the best option for me, but I must stress, it may not be for you. It all depends on the severity of the condition.

Let’s take a look at a few things I did to get my shoulder back to its peak performance. Just remember, if the problem persists and you feel the injury is very serious, you should go to a physiotherapist to get it looked at by a professional. If you have little or no money like me then you can try the steps below:

Stretching:

The single best solution to start with is to stretch those muscles and joints throughout the day. This has done wonders for my shoulder and I continue to use stretch exercises every day, 5 years on. I haven’t had any muscle or joint worries since then so I recommend you buy a good book that teaches the basics of stretching and do those exercises every day from now on.

Heat:

If you are having shoulder trouble (which of course you are) make sure to get a heat pad and place on your shoulder throughout the day. As natural remedies for shoulder pain goes, heat is a great way to determine how serious the injury really is. The heat relaxes your muscles and this alone could be enough to get your joints back to basics. Soaking in a hot bath once in a while can be great to ease any discomfort also. What I’m saying here is that heat is a great indicator to how serious the problem really is.

Barbell Hoisting:

Don’t try this one if you have serious injury, but if you are used to getting mild discomfort it is well advised to strengthen your muscles in your shoulders. Go to the gym or go get some home barbells to work out every second day. Over time your shoulder muscles will enhance by hoisting those weights and you will begin to feel less discomfort. The idea here is to toughen your rotator cuff muscles. Use light weights to start with and if you choose you can increase the weight over time.

Wear a Scarf:

As natural remedies for shoulder pain go this may seem like a weird one. What a lot of people don’t know is that breathing in cold air in the winter months can actually transfer pain to the shoulder muscles from the lungs. Who would have thought that breathing freezing cold air can cause muscle pain?
