Bacterial Vaginosis, one of the most common vaginal infections women suffer from is caused by a proliferation of bacteria in the vagina causing the internal environment to become unbalanced producing unpleasant symptoms for the sufferer including foul-smelling discharge, burning, itching and painful intercourse. Infections of this nature are hard to get rid of and often reoccur. One area of alternative medicine homeopathy appears to have some answers. There are several homeopathic remedies that can bring relief to people with bacterial vaginosis depending upon the symptoms exhibited at the time. Many ailments can be treated by homeopathic remedies bacterial vaginosis being one of them.

The homeopathic treatment most often used for bacterial vaginosis is Creosote. This is used when the individual with bacterial vaginosis has a thin watery discharge with a fishy odour. Another symptoms that indicates Creosote as the appropriate remedy is an itchy swollen vulva.

Bacterial vaginosis can also be treated with the homeopathic remedy Sepia and it should be used rather than Creosote when the discharge is white and milky rather than watery and accompanied by a burning sensation. If Sepia is the appropriate remedy then pressure bearing down on the vagina may be felt. People for whom Sepia is the correct treatment will often be irritable and like to be left alone.

Discharge can be green or grey in the case of bacterial vaginosis and this will dictate which remedy would be the appropriate cure. If there is a lot of greenish discharge after menses has occurred then Nitric Acid would be the remedy of choice, if it occurs before menses then carb veg. would be the treatment. If the discharge is green, painful and happens at anytime then the better choice would be Bovista. For discharge that is grey Argentums Metallicum would be appropriate.

In many women the condition is chronic, in these cases the homeopathic remedies are used different. Pustilla is used in chronic cases where the discharge is yellow and thick and the lining of the vaginal wall is wearing away. When Pustilla is indicated as a remedy the condition will worsen just before menses and the pain will be accompanied by a burning stinging sensation.

Calcarea Carb is also used for chronic vaginosis, to differentiate between pustilla and calcarea carb as remedies, as they both have yellow discharge, look at the physical characteristics of the affected person, someone who is overweight with pale skin is more likely to respond to calcarea carb than to pustilla. Pregnant women with this problem, however, would be better of with pustilla.

As well as physical appearance what aggravates and ameliorates the condition helps pinpoint the correct remedy. If the symptoms are worse when walking, sepia would be the answer; if it’s worse after menstruation then hydrates would help the condition. Circumstances which soothe the pain are also directives to healing remedies. When open air relieves the symptoms of vaginosis then this indicates pustilla as the remedy.

Vaginosis is a common and painful affliction which is often chronic and interferes with the quality of life of those who suffer from it. Homeopathic remedies can alleviate the pain and discomfort this condition causes and allows bacterial vaginosis sufferers to live life to the full again.
