Proteins are one of the essential requirements of the body. They are actually called the building blocks for our body and therefore including proteins in one’s diet is very essential. Protein rich foods such as fish, meat, poultry and dairy products must be a part of the daily diet. Proteins shakes are thus the most favored out of the lot for a daily dose of proteins. These shakes can be made at home using simple recipes. Here are some of the flavors which can be added to your home made protein shakes:
Banana shake: banana is the most commonly used ingredient in any milk shake. Adding banana to the whey protein shake not only adds to the flavor but to the energy quotient of the shake also. Thus banana protein shake before a work out is an excellent source of energy.
Coffee shake: coffee can be added to shakes not only for taste but also for its capability to provide the morning’s ‘wake up call’. Instant, decaffeinated or a combination of both can be used in the protein shake.
Chocolate shake: chocolate, in any form is the favorite of nearly everyone. Therefore, most protein supplement powders have chocolate flavor available. One can add extra chocolate to add to the ‘chocolate ness’. Thus, it can take the form of dark chocolate pieces, chocolate syrup or chocolate ice cream, though the sugar free and non-fat one.
Fruit shakes: fruits should ideally be a part of the daily diet. However, it is not always possible to eat fruits. Therefore a better way is to put in some fresh fruit in the protein shake. The carbohydrates found in fruits, fuel the body, especially when working out. Besides fresh fruits, one can also use frozen fruits, fruit concentrate or even fruit juice to the shake.
Besides the above mentioned flavors of protein shakes, oats and nuts can also be added to the shakes to not only give them flavor but also get carbohydrates and proteins.
