We will discuss the three different types of anxiety pill available.
Benzodiazepines
Among this class is Valium, which has been around for quite some time and is derived from valerian root. You can find the natural form of this anxiety pill in an herbal tea. It is quite effective. Next are Klonopin, Xanax and Ativan. The side effects often felt with these drugs are confused thinking, forgetfulness, poor reflexes and stomach issues, especially if taken without food.
Beta Blockers
Originally developed to treat the heart, scientists discovered they also work in treating anxiety, as they work to block stress hormones in the brain. This type of anxiety pill is often used by performers who suffer from stage fright. These drugs do work to soothe anxiety but they will leave you feeling passionless. They leave you empty of most feelings and can make those around you think you are cold and distant. Side effects include dizziness, slow heart beat, drowsiness and gastrointestinal issues.
Antidepressants
These forms of an anxiety pill take some time to work. It needs to build up in the system. Some people feel they are good for taking the edge off, but there are numerous side effects including drowsiness, headaches, lack of a sex drive, anxiety, (strange that they cause what they are meant to treat) weight gain and impulsivity.
More people are choosing to try natural forms of treatment instead of suffering with the side effects of a traditional anxiety pill. As mentioned above, Valerian Root is a natural herb that will work as well as the engineered pill. Other herbs that work to calm and sooth are St. John’s Wort and Passion Flower.
Meditation can work wonders if practiced daily. Yoga has a calming effect as well. Watch the diet. Eat healthy, get plenty of rest and exercise as much as possible. It has been shown that exercise works to create a sense of well being.
Use visual imagery to help calm you at the end of the day, or even when confronted with a stressful situation. Picture an ocean beach or some other quiet, comfortable place. You will be surprised at ho well this works.
If you still feel an anxiety pill is needed, discuss it fully with your doctor and choose the one with the least dosage and side effects. Natural remedies will take a little time, but by combining all of the tips mentioned, you can heal yourself. Another thing to avoid is a lot of caffeine. Drink natural teas instead.
