Vaginal Rash and Causes

If you have a rash in your vaginal area, which includes the vuvla (outer area of the vagina) and the vagina, there are many causes. It simple could be a rash from irritation of clothes rubbing on the skin or it could be a more complicated issue.

Contact dermatitis is the most common cause. Contact dermatitis is caused by an allergic reaction or irritant. Things like lotion and soap can cause the skin to be come irritated, very itchy and uncomfortable. Contact dermatitis is typically not serious and simply changing your soap and other products can prevent future rashes.

Some other causes of vagina rashes are scabies, pubic lice, yeast infection and psoriasis. Scabies are a mite that borrows in the outer layer of the skin and cause the skin to itch. Pubic lice is similar to head lice but they live in the pubic hair, they are itchy because they live off blood so they bite. Yeast infections on candidiasis can cause a rash in the folds of skin around the vagina. Psoriasis can appear in the vaginal region and be very itchy and uncomfortable.

If you have sores, lumps or blisters in the vaginal area you may have genital herpes, genital warts, bartholin gland cysts, folliculitis, or another sexual transmitted disease. There are other explanations but these are the most common. Genital herpes and genital warts are sexual transmitted diseases, herpes is a viral infection which cause skin sores and blisters and genital warts causes warts on the genital and is a part of the human papillomavirus or HPV. Bartholian gland cyst are glands on either side of the vaginal opening. These provide fluid to lubricate the vagina and can become blocked. These can become a cyst. Folliculitis is a red lump that can be tender where skin bacteria has caused an infection in the hair shaft. Sexually transmitted diseases can also cause sores, blisters and ulcers in the vagina and groin areas.

There are many causes to vagina rash, the only way you can be certain of your condition is to visit a doctor.
